Oracles at Delphi

Jessica Sheldon

“What is my purpose?”
I carefully consider
Clearing my mind
To the edge of awareness.

“What is my purpose?”
I inhale deeply
Breathing in the acrid earth
To the edge of consciousness.

“What is my purpose?”
I feel my body vibrate
Radiating heat from my core
To the edge of my extremities.

“What is my purpose?”
I see stars and moons,
Surfing through inky velvet
To the edge of the universe.

“What is my purpose?”
I shift faster and faster,
Soaring through nebulae
To an ever-branching tree of stars.

“What is my purpose?”
I feel endless potential,
Coursing through my being.
“To choose.”
